 Eastern Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Vorarlberg Several years ago, the New York Times designated the economic region “Rhine Valley” as Europe’s “Silicon Valley” and indicated the strong development on both sides of the river. This qualification from the mouth of the economic world champion shows the significance the region has taken in the world. The numbers are proving it. With a workforce of more than half a million in Easter Switzerland, Vorarlberg, and Liechtenstein an export volume of 33,4 billion Swiss Francs (22 billion Euros) was realized. (Source: 3-Country Comparison of the WKO Vorarlberg). Counting all employees in Eastern Switzerland it relates to a per capita performance of 114.000 CHF. Especially the production and the procession industries are supporting this economic force, though for several years there is a trend towards a growing service industry. In all three countries this part of the economy is growing faster than the production industry. Whoever performs globally needs to be mobile. And providing mobility for the global economic Players is one of the most important areas of responsibility of our airport.
